Alexis Flake was named the 2009 Arizona’s Junior Miss.  In the national Junior Miss competition, Alexis finished in the top 10 and won $4,800 in scholarships.  Alexis performed as a member of the “LIGHT Show Choir” in Chicago, Los Angeles, Utah, and throughout Arizona.  While in high school, Alexis cheered on the state champion and national runner-up Mountain View Cheer Team.

  

Alexis’ essay for the JFK Profile in Courage Essay Competition was selected as a national finalist, and her piano talent has been recognized by the Arizona Study Program which has given her Superior with Honor ratings for six years.  Alexis has made TV and radio commercials for Literacy and Physical Fitness, is the National Spokesperson for Volunteering and Emergency Preparedness, and modeled at the First Lady’s Luncheon in Washington, D.C.  Alexis makes time to teach piano and voice lessons and has been a Musical Theatre workshop instructor. 


Alexis is the daughter of US Congressman Jeff and Cheryl Flake.  She currently attends Brigham Young University on full academic scholarship while studying Broadcast Journalism.  For the 2010-11 academic year, Alexis will be a member of the prestigious BYU Young Ambassadors performing group.
